Georgetown, Texas – October 10th’s ribbon cutting and grand opening party for The Brownstone at The Summit marked the first major benchmark for the Novak Brothers’ newest development, The Summit at Rivery Park. Over 300 of Georgetown’s VIPs celebrated with a full day of events including an intimate morning ribbon cutting and an exclusive evening cocktail party.
Following years of planning and months of construction, the Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel and Conference is about 90 days from opening.
A sure sign that the hotel will be open for business on July 28? Room reservations are now being accepted.
“Beginning to accept reservations for our future guests is an exciting milestone in the progress of the hotel,” said Rita Healy, Sheraton Georgetown Texas general manager.
“We are eager to welcome the first guests into the hotel to experience Georgetown’s new place to meet.”
Room rates range from $144 to $314 per night.
The hotel will have 222 guestroom/suites equipped with wireless Internet access and high-definition televisions. Outside is a heated pool and access to the city hike and bike trail on the banks of the San Gabriel River. A fitness center is also available.
The hotel will have two dining venues. The Brix & Ale restaurant will serve comfort cuisine, local wine, beer and cocktails. The eatery is a pub/winery blend.
During the day, the Lobby Cafe will offer a grab-and-go breakfast, snacks and Starbucks coffee.
The lobby lounge will serve as place for meeting, eating and connecting and in the evening will feature craft cocktails and communal seating.
Sheraton officials called the Club Lounge “a perfect place to plug in or hang out.” Parking is in a three-level garage. The conference center has 30,000 square feet of meeting space including 10 dedicated rooms with eight breakout spaces and a 16,000-squarefoot ballroom.
Construction started in February 2015 on the hotel that anchors the 32-acre Summit at Rivery Park west of Interstate 35 between University Avenue and Williams Drive. Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. will operate the hotel under its Sheraton brand. The hotel will be owned by Novak Brothers and Hines Interests, a real estate firm based in Houston. For Jeff Novak of Novak Brothers Construction, the developer of the project, seeing the hotel and conference center come to fruition is the culmination of years of dedicated work.
Mr. Novak said earlier this year he is appreciative of the crews from Austin Commercial that kept things on track, shooting for the summer opening, despite record rainfall in the past year.
“The more it comes out of the ground, there’s the reality that this is really happening,” he said.
“Many people have emailed me and told me on social media they are looking forward to having the hotel in Georgetown.”
In addition to the hotel, Mr. Novak plans to open 65,000 square feet of retail/commercial space a couple months after the Sheraton opens. More retail options will be available, and there are also new brownstones and apartments nearby.

“As Georgetown’s first high-end mixed-use development, The Summit is positioned to take advantage of this incredible location, providing shopping, dining and office space to a growing professional community, as well as a destination for regional and national conferences and events,” says Novak.
The event was designed by IF marketing & advertising, the full-service agency behind all marketing efforts for The Brownstones.
