Novak is a former NFL lineman who after retiring from professional sports became a real estate entrepreneur. He ran a real estate marketing and sales agency before starting Novak in 2008.

During the past 15 years, Novak has developed more than approximately $400 million dollars in real estate. Currently, Novak and its affiliates own real estate assets with an estimated value of over $200 million, those assets include residential developments, multi-family, retail, office, and hotels. Novak has an estimated real estate project pipeline or under construction totaling $300 million.
